Film, modern bilim ve teknoloji tarihini değiştiren ALS hastası İngiliz fizikçi ve teorisyen Stephen Hawking'in hayatından bir kesiti ele alıyor. Filmde usta fizikçiyi canlandıran Eddie Redmayne de performansıyla En İyi Erkek Oyuncu kategorisinde Oscar ödülü aldı.
